Something unusual
Something unusual happened today.
As you know, Guinea pigs have lots of different sounds like most animals. One of these sounds is singing. It´s sound that more or less sounds like when a bird sings.
The thing about this sound is that it is extremely rare. Some people, like me, will get lucky and hear it, while others may never be given that chance.
Personally, it was the third time in my life with guinea pigs that I heard it. For Jessica, it was the first time.
Ginnie sang for me 2 times. Jessica never got to hear it since she was away both times.
Today, one of our current piggies, Gissa & Piggie, sang. Unfortunately, we have no idea who it was since both were hiding under our couch.

That’s very interesting Thomas. I’m glad you were fortunate to hear it three times. And I’m sure Jessica is tickled that she heard it for the first time. And I’ll bet she gave you strange looks when you told her about the other two times.
Yep. I certainly am VERY fortunate to have heard it three times. In fact, after reading that not many get to hear it, I am fortunate to have heard it at all.
Other people that I know that either have or have had Guinea pigs have never been fortunate to have heard it.
1st time…
I was doing computer stuff as usual. The computer is in one end of our apartment and the Guinea pigs cage/home is in the other end.
Jessica was in the shower and suddenly I heard a sound I have never heard before.
I went across the whole apartment (that sounded as the apartment is bigger than it is) to the cage and there Ginnie was sitting, very calm almost as she had her mind somewhere else and doing these sounds.
I asked her “How are you Ginnie?”, at the very moment she heard my voice, she stopped.
2nd time…
Not really sure where Jessica was but she wasn´t home. Ginnie was down on the floor, and I heard the sounds again. Naturally I was doing computer stuff again and I went to check on her. When I got to her, she stopped.
Today (3rd time)…
I was doing computer stuff :$ and Jessica was watching tv. Both piggies was on the floor, hiding somewhere under the couch.
Suddenly Jessica asks me to come to the living room where she and the piggies are cause she hear some sounds she have never heard before. When I get hlf way to the livingroom I recognize the sound as the same a Ginnie was doing. Jessica is wondering “what is this, are they sick?”. No, I said, one of them were doing the rare guinea pig song.
Only thing I heard from Jessica was “Wow”.
