Boaz

On Saturday, the final of Eurovision Song Contest 2008 took place in Belgrade, Serbia.

Some russian guy called Dima Bilan won, but another guy got stuck in my head.
Boaz from Israel with the song “The fire in your eyes”. The song is mostly in Hebrew but…what a voice.

Check out the video on youtube and remember where you read about him.

Ok - So who is it?

I found this for the first time, in the Scrabble game at Facebook, a few days ago.
Did not think too much about it at the time but then I figured I want to know who it is.

So, who is it?
Don´t be shy, come forward please!

A philosophy

The following is a philosophy of Carl Schultz, the creator of Snoopy.

You don´t need to answer the questions. Just continue reading and you will understand the point.

1. Tell me 5 of the worlds richest people.
2. Tell me 5 of the winners of the Heisman trophy.
3. Tell me the last 5 winners of Miss America.
4. Tell me 10 people who won the Nobel prize or Pulitzer prize.
5. Tell me the last 6 people who won an Oscar for an leading role (Male or female doens´t matter).
6. Tell me the last 10 winners of the icehockey championships.

How did it go?
The point is to have us remember yesterdays news. These are not 2nd place people, they are the greatest in what they do. But applauses dies. They aren´t going to get any more rewards. What they once did will be forgotten quite fast.

Here is some more questions…
1. Name a few teachers that helped you extra much in school.
2. Name 3 people who supported you through hard times.
3. Name 5 people who taught you something valuable.
4. Name a few people who have made you feel special.
5. Name 5 people you like spending time with.

Was this easier?

Moral of the story…
The people who makes your life worth living aren´t the ones with lots of money, most rewards or are most famous.
It is those who cares about you that counts.

Don´t worry that the world will go under today, it is already tomorrow in Australia.

2 questions

1. Why does the phone almost always ring when you just can not answer?

2) Lets say the phone is in another room, the phone rings and you go and pick it up in what you would call a reasonable time, it either stops ringing just when you grab the phone or you here the “click” from the other end when you say hello.

It never fails…

I hate poems

I thought this was kind of cute and funny.

I hate poems just like you,
Sometimes even more, it’s true.
The rhyme and rythm, all that stuff,
My brain just screams, “OK ENOUGH!”

I loathe the meter, I hate the verse
Every time, it just gets worse.
When in school we learned all this,
I made sure that day to miss.

Some will ask incredulously,
“Why do you write this atrocity?
Why do you burden us with your pain?”
They sure all think that I’m insane.

The answer is, I tell you now,
Insane I am, and boy oh how.
A crazy loon that’s me alright,
And poems I don’t know how to write.

But my brain still mutters and sometimes stammers,
And sometimes hits me with a hammer.
So I really have no choice, you see,
Than to annoy you with my poetry.

Genders

This one is old and can be found here and there on the Internet, but I felt I needed something to post to keep this blog alive. :d

  • Ziploc Bags are Male, because they hold everything in, yet you can see right through them.
  • Copiers are Female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again. It’s an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can wreak havoc if the wrong buttons are pushed.
  • A Tire is Male, because it goes bald and it’s often over-inflated.
  • A Hot Air Balloon is Male, because, to get it to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under it, and of course, there’s the hot air part.
  • Sponges are Female, because they’re soft, squeezable and retain water.
  • A Web Page is Female, because it’s always getting hit on.
  • A Subway is Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick people up.
  • An Hourglass is Female, because over time, the weight shifts to the bottom.
  • A Hammer is Male, because it hasn’t changed much over the last 5,000 years, but it’s handy to have around.
  • A Remote Control is Female. Ha! You thought it’d be male, didn’t you? But consider this - it gives a man pleasure, he’d be lost without it, and while he doesn’t always know the right buttons to push, he keeps trying!

The world’s strangest laws

I found this in Times Online and found it pretty funny.

25. It is illegal for a cab in the City of London to carry rabid dogs or corpses.

24. It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament.

23. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside down.

22. In France, it is forbidden to call a pig Napoleon.

21. Under the UK’s Tax Avoidance Schemes Regulations 2006, it is illegal not to tell the taxman anything you don’t want him to know, though you don’t have to tell him anything you don’t mind him knowing.

20. In Alabama, it is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while driving a vehicle.

19. In Ohio, it is against state law to get a fish drunk.

18. Royal Navy ships that enter the Port of London must provide a barrel of rum to the Constable of the Tower of London.

17. In the UK, a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants – even, if she so requests, in a policeman’s helmet.

16. In Lancashire, no person is permitted after being asked to stop by a constable on the seashore to incite a dog to bark.

15. In Miami, Florida, it is illegal to skateboard in a police station.

14. In Indonesia, the penalty for masturbation is decapitation.

13. In England, all men over the age of 14 must carry out two hours of longbow practice a day.

12. In London, Freemen are allowed to take a flock of sheep across London Bridge without being charged a toll; they are also allowed to drive geese down Cheapside.

11. In San Salvador, drunk drivers can be punished by death before a firing squad.

10. In the UK, a man who feels compelled to urinate in public can do so only if he aims for his rear wheel and keeps his right hand on his vehicle.

9. In Florida, unmarried women who parachute on Sundays can be jailed.

8. In Kentucky, it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon more than six-feet long.

7. In Chester, Welshmen are banned from entering the city before sunrise and from staying after sunset.

6. In the city of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow.

5. In Boulder, Colorado, it is illegal to kill a bird within the city limits and also to “own” a pet – the town’s citizens, legally speaking, are merely “pet minders”.

4. In Vermont, women must obtain written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth.

3. In London, it is illegal to flag down a taxi if you have the plague.

2. In Bahrain, a male doctor may legally examine a woman’s genitals but is forbidden from looking directly at them during the examination; he may only see their reflection in a mirror.

1. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast is legally the property of the King; the tail, on the other hand, belongs to the Queen - in case she needs the bones for her corset.

Now you know what to do and what not to do when travelling.

Id and trial and error

Today I was visiting a police station to get one of the (for Sweden) new national identity cards. Since I had a couple of friends with me who could guarantee that I am me and one of them had not ever visited Swedens largest mall about 20 km´s outside Stockholm we of course went to it since there is a police station nearby. It was cold today. Thermometer said it was not so cold, but it was.

Anyway, we got home after a few hours and I decided to try to set up an rss feeed for my gallery. After a few trial and errors it worked, so now you can easily see if a new pic have been posted without the need to first visit the gallery.

The new look

Added 2 things to my world today.

1) a gallery, currently with pictures of Ginnie, Piggie and Gissa.

2) I thought it would be nice to see who visits me whether they comment my posts or just read them so I added a guestbook and hopefully those who just reads my posts will sign that anyway.

2007 is coming along nicely so far and I hope it will continue like that.
I haven´t given any new years resolutions but one thing I will atleast try is to blog a little more. Let´s hope I can keep that.

See ya in the next post.

Getting too many bills in your mail?

I don´t know about you, but I am getting too many bills in my mail.

But I think I found a solution.

Too bad I live in a house where the mail man delivers the mail at my door and not down the street.
And perhaps the mail man wouldn´t like this idea much, when I think about it.

Baloo

This post is more of a personal post to my friend Rob.

Rob asked me in a comment to the Happy Birthday Rob post how Baloo is doing.

Baloo is doing fine, Rob. I don´t remember if I ever took a photo of him or if it was just something I thought of doing but never did.
Anyway, here he is…
And, thanks again for getting this fluffy animal for me. :)

Loosing a friend

Today I lost a friend. No, not as in death. I sure hope not.
But it was still a death sort of.

A while ago, I met someone who I felt “wow, what a wonderful person”.
We met on a chat site. It all started with her answering a question I had. I went to read her profile on the site. I read and read every single word of it and felt “Does such people even exist?”
To me, this was something rare.
We continued to chat from time to time for a few days, but then it accelerated to a daily chat and often several times a day.

The chats were about everything from the weather to things I haven´t told a lot of people in this world.
Sure I have lots of people I consider my buddies, but not many that I have told my deepest inner thoughts.

I never fell in love with her but I also told her that I can´t say it would or would not happen if we ever met in real life. I can´t say I love someone until I spend some irl with her.
The problem was (or was it actually good, I don´t know) that we live about 600 km´s from each other.

Very often we hear that we should be careful with who we go meet irl from the net. I definately agree 100%.
I wouldn´t have wanted to meet her irl the next day or the next month. Perhaps in 10 years or something. I told her this and I am not sure I ever got a clear answer from her, but I would not expect someone to tell inner thoughts if the person didn´t agree with me about continuing the friendship outside the net.

Today I found out I was just another chatbuddy to her.
I don´t hope I was, since much of the things she told me was on the “Can I tell you a secret”-stage.

Oh well, I guess this post become a little confusing and I am sorry for that.

To Lisette…
I don´t know if you read this but if you do…
I love you like my friend!
I do not usually go out to the public and announce that I have a lump in my throat when writing things. But yes I have that at the moment and I have never gone out to public to say…
You will be missed greatly but it´s your choice to call me a chatbuddy, but to me you were a wonderful friend.
With whoever you teams up with in a beautiful honest future friendship, I wish you two the very best of luck.
You go on and take care now and live a happy life.

Interesting quote

I found this quote today and found it interesting and true.

Never argue with idiots.
They will drag you down to their level
and then beat you with their experience
